COUNSELLING STRATEGIES

Donna specializes in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which simply put means helping clients to recognize their thoughts and feelings and how these influence actions. I use an Existentialist Approach to understanding behavior change. “What you say is what you get” & “We are what we do”. I believe clients are free and responsible to determine their own development through the choices they make.

I also use an Ecotherapy approach in my counseling, as I like to meet the client in a natural setting so I can assess how they function in their sport and living environments. Initial sessions are typically held in my office and then the observations and implementation of the program are done in the rink, on the court, on the field or where your sport and life takes you. Some counselling sessions are also done on outdoor hikes to get in touch with the great outdoors more, especially for those sports or every day living activities that tend to keep us inside.
